When Georgios Hatzakos opened his own store in 1964 in his birthplace, the city of Thessaloniki (after ten years of working in a filo pastry workshop), the only tools he had at his disposal in order to supply filo and kataifi pastry to the city patisseries, were his hard work and the care he took in producing a final result he could be proud of.
His thirty-two years of experience and the continuous training of the second generation, which dynamically joined what had now become… a family business, resulted in the products of the Hatzakou family being sold throughout Greece and in several locations abroad.
The company’s constant research into the development of new products has resulted in the creation of two unique products:
• Perfect Filo Pastry Sheets (Turmeric) went on the market in 1989, taking over a large share of “classic” filo pastry, forcing the rest of the industry to follow suit.
• Cocoa kataifi pastry went onto market shelves in 1994 and was a breakthrough in the syrupy dessert market.
At present, the company has relocated to a state-of-the-art facility in the Sindos Industrial Area, having invested in latest-generation production lines. The upgrading of our company’s equipment has led to the constant production of high standard products. The company’s production capacity at its new facilities has reached 120 tons a month, providing us with the opportunity to cover constantly increasing demand for our products.
