The house of Furs Toutountzi was founded in Athens at the beginning of the 20th century.

The founder, Pantelis Toutountzis, arrived from the Ottoman- occupied Kastoria to Athens around 1903. In his luggage, he carried his three daughters and a vast experience in fur manufacturing and trading due to Kastoria's centuries’ old tradition. Within the multinational Ottoman Empire he had spread his dealings as far as Constantinople and Bucharest.

By 1910, it can be seen in the press that the house of Furs Toutountzi was well-established in Athens. Its name guaranteed the quality and style of its products.

During the First and the Second World War Furs Toutountzi managed to withstand the adversities of the time and maintained its long tradition. It offered its services to the cream of society including the wives of prime ministers and artists of international fame. Furthermore, it cooperated with the best fashion houses in womens clothing.

After the war, while Greece and Athens were slowly recovering from the damage, the then head of the house of Furs Toutountz, Zacharias Athanassios, traveled to Paris to study modelling and the techniques of high quality fur manufacturing in and around Paris. He remained there to work for several years in the workshops of fashion houses of international repute. When he returned to Athens he was carrying with him a rich knowledge in the latest fashion designs, techniques and trends.

Today, Furs Toutountzi is believed to be the only house with such a long and continuous presence in the field of fur trade in Athens.

Furs Toutountzi have remained a family concern. At its head today is the fourth generation of owners, Zacharia Ioli-Theodoti.  True to its long tradition, Furs Toutountzi has kept up with contemporary trends in fashion.

Fur no longer has to be only a luxury garment and it has followed the modern woman in her everyday life: at work, stepping out or on her travels. It has acquired modern design, colour, lightness and practicality, offering above all-, warmth, comfort and style.

The current direction of Furs Toutountzi, true to its long tradition, offers solutions adjusted to the everyday needs of the women of the 21st century.  In our Collection Section, you can find suggestions from Furs Toutountzi that we have designed and produced in our workshop and which vary from sleeveless jackets to coats. Furthermore, we cooperate with selected fur brands from France, Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom to enrich the variety of our products and to ensure that we are able to meet the needs of all our clientele.
