Sporades islands

Emerald waters and a salty sea breeze keep you company on the most carefree of yachting holidays. Rules and restrictions are blown away like a puff of cloud on the clear blue horizons; no hotel check-ins or “quiet hours” to observe. You’ll swim on the crest of silvery waves with dolphins as playmates, explore unspoilt beaches, discover a brand new passion for fishing, find the perfect spot in a calm, windless harbour and succumb to the ruby sunset, cocktail at hand.

Blessed with rugged natural landscapes, and surrounded by small islands scattered around the archipelagos, Alonnisos is an island ideal for those you want to unwind and enjoy leisure walks surrounded by pine forests, olive groves and orchards. The island is the most remote of the Northern Sporades island group, and home to the National Marine Park of Northern Sporades, a refuge for rare seabirds, dolphins and the Mediterranean monk seal, monachus monachus.

Skiathos, the most cosmopolitan island in the Northern Sporades, is truly a paradise on earth, with lush pine forests and crystal-clear azure waters. The island is picturesque, unspoilt and blessed with more than 60 beautifully crystal clear waters and beaches.

The most famous is Koukounaries, which is considered as the third most beautiful beach in the Mediterranean. When you add in its bustling nightlife, it is only natural that the island attracts thousands of young visitors every year!

Whether you want to stay away from the crowds or dance until you drop – and then wake up and do it all over again – Skiathos, with its upbeat night life, is a real treat for visitors and especially for young people seeking the freedom to party and listen to their favourite music. The pedestrian street by the Old Harbour is the ultimate hotspot for entertainment! Buzzing bars and clubs keep youngsters rocking through the night and until the early morning! The party continues in the area of Ammoudia (on the road to the airport) where entertainment addicts celebrate in big open air clubs! Colourful cultural events, concerts and art exhibitions held throughout the summer months will add a special touch to your holidays on the island.

Eye-catching landscapes, crystal clear waters next to golden coasts; traditional Pelion architecture, rugged natural landscapes and pure island atmosphere are what Skopelos adds up to. As the islands land is mostly covered by a pine forest, the colour green will definitely cast a spell over you. It is part of the Sporades island group and it has three ports, Skopelos, Agnontas and Glossa. Its ancient Greek name was Peparithos, son of Dionysus and Ariadne, who is believed to have been the islands first inhabitant, while its name today was given in Ptolemaios texts in the 2nd c. AD.

The island enjoyed international acclaim when Hollywood producers chose it to shoot the famous movie Mamma Mia, establishing it as a holiday destination for travellers coming from around the world.

Only three and a half hours away from Athens lies the southernmost island of Sporades. Several myths of Greek Mythology referring to legendary heroes such as Lykomedes, Theseus, Achilles and Neoptolemus, are connected with the island of Skyros. A plethora of conquerors left behind their traces over the centuries, which is perfectly illustrated on the island’s traditions, customs and architecture. Whether you are an action lover or desperate for carefree moments under the sun, Skyros has a unique experience to offer to each one of you.

Upon reaching the island, you will encounter the scenic Port of Linaria. Only ten km far you will find the beautiful Chóra, amphitheatrically built around a Byzantine castle that occupies the site of the ancient citadel (acropolis). Walking through the cobbled alleys, one can admire the Skyrian houses with their unique architecture; their flat roofs is a typical example of traditional island architecture, yet featuring local elements, particularly as far as interior decoration is concerned.
